Murphy Private Photography Collection Murphy Private Photography Collection is a quiet, intimate series of equine portraits that explores connection, trust, and the final hours shared between a horse and his owner. These photographs document Murphy’s last expressions and tenderness, capturing the bond and security between them. grace of an animal moving from a life of speed and fire to a peaceful, resigned calm.
Story Behind the Images ‘I have always believed that having dignity when dying is a blessing’. Murphy was dying from cancer when a friend asked a veterinarian to euthanize their horse. I spent long hours thinking about how a 500-kilogram animal would transition from standing to lying without losing dignity. And, Murphy was remarkably graceful. In life Murphy was fast, gifted, feisty, and handful. In his final hours he became tame and resigned. The vet remarked on how peacefully Murphy accepted what was happening. The bond between my friend and Murphy was immense; their trust and connection are evident in every photograph in this collection.
